Zoe writes, “Life is busy and often we crave space to think. Conversations can get noisy too and we can underestimate the power of silence. One of our 3D principles is ‘Be silent, ask questions when necessary’.
Here are some thoughts about silence:
Enough – less is always more. Less words, less questions, less working so hard.
Space – it’s hard to think when someone keeps asking you loads of questions. Go at their pace.
Intuition – offer your wondering lightly and be careful not to lead.
Let go of the need to be impressive . When we release the pressure to solve, fix and rescue, questions emerge more naturally.
Explore – silence can be active and alive – trust that in the silence the thinker is doing some great work.
Notice – say what you see and let the thinker make the meaning
Curiosity – we want to evoke their curiosity about their own stuff rather than us conducting a forensic examination!”
