Ruth writes: “Time is our friend! In the UK, we often think about time as a deficit: “I’ve got to be there in 20 minutes”, “I’ve only got 3 days to do that”, “you were only just on time”. This can mean we stop talking about time because it feels rude.
If we can change our deficit to an abundance mindset, something happens. Suddenly things feel really spacious: “I’ve got 5 mins now if that’s useful?”, “in the hour that we’ve got, what do we need to do?”, “There are 2 hours before that call”.
In this spaciousness, there’s a generosity. Talking about time becomes a gift. Sharing how long we have to have a conversation or do a thing makes it clear. It means we can work out a version that is the right size for our time. And if we talk about the time positively, we can share the responsibility and do some great work however long we have.
Time is our friend.”
