Nathan writes, “We recently had our fence replaced, a project we had put off for quite some time, mainly because of the cost and the complexity of making sure that it was in the right place.
My thoughts of the boundary were different from my neighbour’s. As a result, there was potential for conflict, misunderstanding and a lot of pain. As part of the process, we had to remove the whole fence, put up a straight line and mutually agree that this new line would define our new fence.
The image above shows a piece of wood sticking out of my neighbour’s shed. This was put there to show where my neighbour felt the boundary should have been.
I think this is important because often we are not clear about where boundaries need to be. If we don’t think about it and know our own boundaries, we’ll never be able to determine whether they’re in the right place to carry out our work successfully.
How do you mark your boundaries and are you prepared to modify them once you learn more about where they may need to be?”
