Su writes “We’ve been doing work at 3D Coaching investigating and challenging ourselves around inclusion. A small part of that includes processes, so we now ask our delegates a few short questions to make sure that we’re doing what we can to make our spaces as warm and welcoming for everyone as they can be. 

One of our questions is how do you like to pronounce your name. And I confess we’ve had a range of answers to that! Particularly from people who might feel that the pronunciation is obvious and we’re asking a silly question! And that comes from a place of entitlement: everyone ought to know how my name is pronounced. What a nice comfortable place to be! 

But by asking this question, we’re challenging everyone to think about how they would describe the pronunciation. This is something that some people have to address every day, all of the time. It must be exhausting.

So I’m Su, rhymes with shoe,  the start of “super” 😉 .  How do you say your name?”
