Claire writes: “I’ve just been helping some friends strip their new house in preparation for building work. They had enlisted a team of friends over several weekends. Each time I went in, it looked completely different. Walls were disappearing. Carpets came up. Wallpaper was stripped.
The most useful thing for me to do was to check how they’d know it was done. Brene Brown has a beautiful phrase: Paint done for me. Last weekend I didn’t ask and started stripping the paper off a wall that was coming down! When we have a huge task ahead, painting done in our minds can help us work out what needs doing, and what, in fact, can be left undone.”
