Zoe writes: ‘Often people who come to conversations have thought or talked about what they’re bringing a lot. There’s a risk that talking about it more keeps them stuck. That’s why one of our 3D principles is Change the Medium. When we invite someone to move, draw or use objects, we create space for them to think about things differently.
I can think of so many times when stepping away from my desk for a 10 minute walk or drawing out all the ideas that are swirling in my head, has brought new insights.
The clue is often in what they say – ‘I just need to take a step back from everything’ or ‘there’s so much in my head I need to get it out’. Inviting them to change the medium and look at it differently requires bravery from us and them. That’s partnership.’
