3D Ideas 1141 – Are you a new leader?

Su writes: “I have done lots of work in different environments with new leaders over many years. It’s great work to do, as people gather together all the skills and gifts that they already have, and turn them towards a future which is about enabling others around them and projects to have drive and impact. It’s often a time of hope and enthusiasm.

Sometimes it’s also a time of fear and anxiety: Can I really do this thing? And of loneliness: Who can I connect with and who can I be vulnerable with? What if my new team see that I am feeling my way a bit?  Sometimes I’ve seen new leaders feel timid about showing up as themselves – so doing some pretending. I’ve heard the “Fake it until you make it” expression which raises some questions about authenticity, and who the new leader is choosing to pretend to be in the interim.

You might be feeling the same way: how can you move into this next step of life or career with authenticity? If you need a safe place to set you up well in your leadership – exploring the challenges, considering how you are turning up or purely reflecting on what you are noticing about your own leadership and development, it’s worth getting in touch with us!”
