Ruth writes, ‘Recently I was leading a training course on coaching. There was no partner for an aspiring coach to practise with so I volunteered to think.

He was very nervous, and feeling like a beginner only a few weeks into the course. The outcome was incredible! I had been feeling a bit despairing about a situation and came out of our short conversation with real clarity.

The post it note I scribbled during our conversation is still stuck at the bottom of my computer screen. It’s a reminder. Next to it sit some words I found later to help me cement my new resolve.

Every time I notice them, I am reminded

  • how much I value the space to think in the presence of another person
  • they don’t have to be experienced for me to get great outcomes
  • I will always be learning’
