Claire writes: 'We were way too late for Spring Cleaning this year, but last week with everyone in the family facing a week off work or school we decided to combine fun and clearing up. I can thoroughly recommend STOMP at The Vaudeville Theatre. It's a bit like Riverdance with dustbin lids and we booked cheap tickets through www.lastminute.com
That was the fun. The challenge was that there was no room to put anything in the airing cupboard, the cupboard under the stairs, the roof or the garage. As a consequence all four had piles stuffed in all over the place, and queues of more stuff to be put away standing outside the door. Fortunately the girls agreed to help... and after only a couple of days the empty boxes have been taken to the recycling, the old unused stuff has been put away and the charity shops of Letchworth are turning us away! In fact the girls enjoyed it so much that they went and helped a neighbour turn out her understairs cupboard as well. I don't believe in the Feng Shui idea about releasing flows of energy, but I have to say that it is a huge relief to be able to put the laundry away, to be able to easily find the drill and put it away, to be able to archive the office accounts into the roof and stop keeping the vacuum cleaner by the door! And the learning? It never takes as long as it looks - especially if you enlist the help of others. (And the six person hours on the neighbours cupboard was a barter - they will give us six hours when we need help back.) Because if cupboards are stagnant, we can't get to anything - so is it that important to keep?'
