DiSC is a communications behaviour profiling tool similar (but not the same as) MBTI or Myers Briggs (which is personality preference based).
How can it be used?
It is acknowledged as easily allowing individuals and their peers / managers / staff to learn more about each other in 15 minutes than they could though working together for a whole year.
We are using it to:
• identify behavioural strengths • improve the chances of gaining the desired response when communicating • deal with conflict by learning adaptive behaviours • enhance team working (including across multi-disciplinary teams) • reduce stress in relationships • inform performance management • support recruitment and selection
Where did DiSC come from?
The DiSC behavioural system analysis is based on the work of Dr. William M Marston of Harvard University. It analyses work related behaviour preferences based upon the interactions between the following four attributes:
Marston stated that 'the ability to interact effectively with people may be the difference between success or failure in our work'. DiSC profiling is an excellent tool for facilitating the understanding of these interactions and behaviours.
How do I learn more about DiSC?
Attend a workshop which will enable you to:
• understand the theory behind communication • increase your appreciation of others, and to respect and value differences • interpret your own DiSC profile • identify how to improve interpersonal relationships and enhance your impact
We offer half day and one day workshops. In half a day you can get the basics. In the full day workshop you can also begin to apply what you learn to real communication challenges you are facing. Workshops can be provided for teams (functional or multi-disciplinary) or mixed groups.
