Jane listens with curiosity and reflects back to her clients so people hear and make connections to enhance their learning. Her coaching style is both strategic and contextual which enables organisational change. Jane has the courage to say what she sees and to deal with the impact that has on those she is coaching. She enables people to be able to work to acknowledge their own resources and develop them engendering potential and confidence.
Jane’s approach is based on the following beliefs:
People can change
People learn
We all interpret things in different ways, based on our experience
We can make decisions
Our behaviour always has a purpose
Jane believes that everyone has the potential to help themselves. She aims to help others to understand any problem they are facing and learn how to solve both this problem and others they may face in the future. She understands that her clients know what is possible and what may work in their situation, but may need some help in using this knowledge to develop a solution.
By working with individuals and management teams Jane facilitates problem analysis and resolution. These teams could be at any level in an organisation, and any size – it may even be one person. This approach is particularly useful when something is wrong but after several attempts to put things right you realise that you have no idea what sort of help you need. Jane’s approach acknowledges that many people may be involved, and that there will be political issues, processes to work round or change, personal attitudes and values to accommodate or influence.
Jane’s experience includes strategic lead for learning, development and knowledge services at an NHS Foundation Trust, HR Business Partner for a central government department, and chairing the executive committee of a branch of Brook (the only national voluntary sector provider of free and confidential sexual health advice and services specifically for young people under 25).
An experienced coach and facilitator, Jane is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
